This is The Drop, a short weekly note on what our deal engine is seeing across the 145 dive and ski/snowboard destinations we track from Midwest airports. What we caught, what the data says, and one thing worth knowing before you book.
① What we caught
The one worth explaining: $153 round trip, Cleveland to Brian Head. That is Utah snow, the highest base in the state at 9,600 feet, December 8 to 16, for less than most people spend on a lift ticket. It is the cheapest December fare we have ever scanned on this route, within a few dollars of its all-time low. Eight members got that alert.

12 of the 35 are December departures. Issue #1 said December goes on sale in July. It is still on sale. In our data it stops being on sale around October.
② The one that got away, and the numbers we cut
Thursday evening the engine caught Cleveland to Jamaica at $251 round trip for early November. Ten members got the alert. By Saturday’s rescan the same trip was $523. No baseline math needed for that one: our own scanner watched the price double back in two days.
Gone in about 48 hours. We do not do countdown timers or urgency theater, and we will not start. But this is the honest reason alerts exist: some fares live for two days. When one lands for a trip you actually want, look at it that day.
Second thing, and it is on us. Before this issue went out we re-checked every discount we claimed this week against our own scan history. The two biggest did not hold up. We had called La Paz 70% off and Ko Tao 60% off, and our own data says both fares were close to normal for those months. The bad numbers came from a third-party “typical price” we leaned on when we should not have. Monday’s Brian Head post used the same source, so the honest version is the one above: cheapest December fare we have scanned, full stop.
The table now shows only numbers our own history backs, which is why it is short. And as of this morning the pipeline holds any discount that rests on that third-party baseline instead of sending it. The fares we alert are always real and bookable. The percentages have to earn the same trust.
③ Field note: the three-for-one airports
Two catches this week were really six. $369 from Lansing to Reno covers Palisades, Heavenly, and Kirkwood, each about an hour from the airport, late January. $319 from Grand Rapids to Burlington puts Stowe, Jay Peak, and Killington in reach, mid-December. One fare, and you can pick the mountain after you land. Skiers and boarders both.
